SEO stands for “search engine optimization”. It is the practice of optimizing your web pages so that they rank high in the search results of Google or other search engines. SEO focuses on improving rankings in organic search results, also known as unpaid. If you have a website and want to get more traffic, it should be part of your marketing efforts.
The ranking of these search results is determined by the Google algorithm. Although Google’s algorithm remains a secret, years of SEO experience has resulted in a pretty good idea of the important ranking factors. In our opinion, the Google algorithm factors can be divided into two categories:
SEO factors on the page
The ranking of your website is decided in part by factors on the page. On-page SEO factors are all those things that you can influence from your actual website. These factors include technical aspects (for example, the quality of your code and the speed of the site) and aspects related to content, such as the structure of your website or the quality of the content on your website. All of these are crucial on-page SEO factors.
Off-page SEO factors
In addition to on-page SEO factors, there are off-page SEO factors. These factors include links from other websites, attention on social media, and other marketing activities outside of your own website. These off-page SEO factors can be quite difficult to influence. The most important of these off-page factors is the number and quality of links pointing to your site. The more relevant and quality sites that link to your website, the higher your position in Google.
Another off-page factor is your competition related to your particular business niche. In some niches, it is much more difficult to classify than in others. Therefore, the competitiveness of your market also has a great influence on your chances of ranking.
